Kick Against Injustice

I'm sure we are all conversant with the infamous KAI (Kick Against Indiscipline) which has the highest level of indiscipline in its body of staff. The objective of KAI was once known and understood and welcome but now its just plain wickedness and injustice. Without prior notice this instrument of the state government goes about destroying stalls and shops, seizing of goods worth millions and sometimes if the goods are not worth millions they destroy the goods on the spot. Now, not blaming KAI exclusively we have to admit that a servant can't do much without the knowledgeand backing of the boss. Therefore, the real heartless people that are displacing people's properties are the government. Our high and mighty government that doesn't understand the pains of survival. Demolishes small markets and builds shopping complexes with high notch rent that an average trader can't afford to dream of in one year not to talk of paying for three years. A simple trader that gain

Dysfunctional Apparatus

Its sad to say that the Lagos State Government is doing a bad job in keeping its citizens safe. The fact that the Safety Commission only cares about their pockets and not the safety of people living in the State is a known truth. The commission only awakens to its duty when there is a fire accident or when a building either collapses or sinks. The recent sinking of a building in Adeniji Adele that claimed lives prompted the Commission to realise that some buildings might not be strong enough. The Apparatus now parades the streets sealing houses (including weak houses and houses that are perfectly okay) without prior notice to its residents. The Landlords in turn either pay them to ignore their houses completely or renovate a part of the house and still pay them off to ignore the rest. Putting lives at stake and properties at a loss. The irresponsibility of the Apparatus is so obvious that the public having seen them from afar is counting money to grease their palms with. I'm j

Touts Our Official Leaders In Lagos

It is no longer news that from the local government chairmen to the governor none of them are our official leaders, they are just ceremonial leaders. Our real leaders are the touts who have taken over the nooks and crannies of Lagos State. The touts are the ones that determine what happens, when it happens, how it happens and why it happens. The State is so lawless that even the Police men have no say when they are talking. Its not just because of their notoriety but because they weild a power that no one knows its source. Before a commercial bus can move from one place to another he has to pay at least five different groups of touts who are stationed at major bus stops. Suppliers of goods are also too aggrieved to speak up because just offloading goods to their customers they have to pay a certain amount of money. Even it has come to a point where these mallams called 'alabaru' that carry load or goods for people have to pay money for the goods they convey. I ask myself if

Prison for the poor

They won't build schools, they'll rather build prisons because they expect us to become criminals.... And them gods that wield the power of education, speaking in overly complex grammars that we may ponder and wonder and then get lost in our own blunders.... with their suits and ties which they sewed with lies of superiority and condemning us into the caves of inferiority...... They won't build a school for the minor majority, they would build a prison that we may learn to obey their authority, fear their securities and then hide in obscurity.... There is a false belief that says 'all men are born equal' leaving the fact that we don't all get equal shots at life.... The prison has become an educational system for some and mighty buildings equiped with high techs a citadel of learning for others, now tell me the equity in that..... Copyright from Mike Ohms

Land Transportation

I will like to commend the Lagos State Government for one thing in particular and that's in the area of transportation, I have to say kudos. More importantly, in the Mile 12 and Ikorodu areas the idea of fully airconditioned LagBus and BRTs are easing transportation stress. The construction and widening of roads are to also be noted as a breakthrough, majorly because nobody could ever believe that traffic in the Ikorodu areas could decrease to the level it is now. The buses now move from Ikorodu to CMS,TBS and other places for a convenient amount of money. I say convenient because the money is affordable and constant always (whether fuel is scarce or not). Helping traders and office workers get to their destinations without drudgery or emptying their pockets. We all hope that this change is permanent and that those buses be maintained for continued comfortability. I'm just a comfortable Lagosian happy for the smiles on our faces as regards to transportation (land transporta
