Control

Happy new week guys, I was just wondering what keeps me busy on the weekends that I don't go out. I'm gonna plan a get together soon, so watch this space. Anyways, my gist for today is something that has to do with one of Jesus' controversial statements.

Fast rewind to Zacchaeus' confession, after Jesus came to his house and while they were supping (as Jesus loved to refer to it), Zacchaeus declared that half of his goods he will give to the poor and if he had collected anything unjustly, he will quadruple it back in giving. Now lets take a step backward to Luke 18 where the rich guy was asking how he would get to heaven and Jesus asked him to goan sell his possessions but my nigga just turned back sad, well because that dude was really rich. Now Jesus made a statement that has raised a lot of controversies in this world we live in now. Jesus said it will be difficult for a rich man to make heaven and so many have ignorantly embraced poverty because they misunderstood what Christ was talking about.

The number one rule of being one with Christ is to consider nothing your own, the ability to relinquish possession of one's properties and wealth makes a good follower of Christ. Now let's fast forward to the book of Acts 2 and 3, the new believers sold their properties just so everyone would be okay. There was nothing like 'my car' instead it was 'our car.' Now, the reason why Jesus made that statement was because of people like Ananias and Saphira, nobody sent them message to sell their land (it's I too know that kuku kee them).

Jesus' interpretation was that if you can be like Zacchaeus that will relinquish control of every aspect of his life. There is a great tendency among we human folks to hold on dearly to what we love and what we think is ours. Even some poor people in mind (I don't believe that anyone is poor but that it's their minds that are poor) hold on tightly to their lives.

More or less I think what humors me the most is how we humans seem to hold tight reins of control on the things we can't control. We can't control money yet we hold on to it, we can't control wealth, we sure can't control our life cos it can be required of you at any time yet we hold on to it. Now the only thing I think we can control we refuse to hold on tightly to. We can control where we end up, heaven or hell cos we can consciously choose to live right, but we care less about that and choose to try to control what we in summary can't control.

The gist is not that you can't try to be rich and prosper but you must realize that  everything you own doesn't belong to you and you should be ready to give it up at any time.
Gracias.
